There is a hot thread on MTG Salvation's Card Creation Forum ( [link] ) regarding bringing back summoning sickness. I argued that summoning sickness will never be brought back, but instead thought of an even better replacement called 'lag'.
For the formal rules on lag, go to [link] . Lag can do much more than summoning sickness, and I created some cards to prove that lag opens up very interesting design space.

Actually, it was after looking at cards created by Louisiana-limey and yourself that inspired me to create an entire set. I recently discovered the urge to create cards and was looking for arts to go with them. Then I stumbled upon Louisiana-limeys Dream cards and thought it would be cool to make a set around new spell types. Thus the Essence card type was born, and it led to a wave of new keywords and mechanics that interact with established ones.
